Glennisha Morgan is the Founder and Publisher of The Fembassy, an award-winning blog that is solely dedicated to women MCs. Morgan is also a multimedia journalist, writer, photographer and filmmaker. She's covered culture, music, entertainment, queer and women's issues for over five years. Her writing has appeared in a myriad of publications including, The Huffington Post, Ebony, Vibe Vixen, Hot New Hip Hop, Elixher, Ikons Magazine, Digiwaxx, Autostraddle and AOL. Her poetry has been included in an anthology titled "Colored girls", 2010. During her media career she has had the wonderful opportunity to interview people like Brittney Griner, John Leguizamo, Russell Simmons, La La Anthony, MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante, Brendon Ayanbadejo, Laverne Cox, Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Marsha Ambrosius, Janet Mock and Chester French. As a photographer, Morgan has shot everything from family photos to Ferguson.
In 2009, Morgan was a honoree at the Women of Hip Hop Awards. In 2010, she was featured in BET’s first original music documentary, ‘My Mic Sounds Nice’ and was noted as one of the most inspiring Black women on Twitter by ForHarriet.com. In 2011, ForHarriet.com also noted Morgan as one of 30 Black women bloggers you should know about . She was also featured as one of Go! Magazine’s 2014 “Women We Love” and The G List Society's "Black LGBT Power 100 in 2014." From 2011 to 2013 Morgan was a host and producer of New York's WBAI "Rise Up Radio" on 99.5FM.
Morgan’s commentary has been featured on Trace TV,Vibe.com, Ebony.com, CentricTV.com, and in Juicy magazine. The Detroit native is currently working on her debut film titled, “Turn Me Up.” Morgan is a graduate of The New School University. She currently resides in Brooklyn, where she can be found cooking, listening to the latest mixtapes, advocating for women in hip-hop and yelling at her television during episodes of her favorite reality TV shows.
